When two architects get married, they’re definitely going to do it in style.
Tina and Rob chose the grounds of Rose Seidler House as the setting for their big day and it’s safe to say it was a match made in heaven (besides the happy couple of course!). Rose Seidler House at Wahroonga is an iconic location featuring one of the best examples of mid-20th-century modern domestic architecture in Australia. With the 50s house itself being beautifully restored, and the grounds offering sweeping views of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, it was the perfect backdrop for Tina and Rob’s wedding ceremony and Chinese tea ceremony.
When I photograph weddings, I always make sure to shoot more than just couple shots. Pictures of the details – the dress, the rings, the food, and the setting – are all key to capturing the very essence of the wedding so that when the couple looks back at the photos, they can be transported straight back to their big day. And so, with a house as bold as this one, we took every opportunity to capture it in the photos. I took a few simple portraits both in and outside the house, being sure to show off the couple in the context of their chosen backdrop.
I photographed Tina’s sister’s wedding back in 2013, so it’s always wonderful to see familiar faces and to continue to be a part of their stories. Due to COVID restrictions at the time and continued uncertainty, Tina and Rob’s wedding reception will be held in 2022. I’m definitely looking forward to another day celebrating this lovely couple.
